Fishing in Portugal
Portugal is a spectacular fishing destination.  The slow moving waters of the rivers and lakes, amongst the rolling plains, in the Alentejo region offer a peaceful haven in which to enjoy a truly wild fishing experience.  The fishing is good all year round, with each season bringing unique challenges and adventures, with a great variety of fish to choose from.

Rods, reels and tackle are available to use - but you can bring your own if that is preferred - and fishing licenses are organised on your behalf.  

Services

Predator Fishing

Predator fishing here is mainly in the warmer months and we target Largemouth bass,Zander,Catfish ,Barbel Pike and Sea bass. Also in the spring we get Shad in the river which offer great fun on light lure rods .We have many fantastic locations across the Alentejo region.

Fly Fishing

You can fly fish for two species of mullet, four species of barbel, carp, shad, black bass in various locations on the reservoirs and the Rio Guidiana. This can be very seasonal so please check beforehand for best dates.

Carp Fishing

The reservoirs and rivers in the Alentejo region offer plenty of opportunity for some amazing Carp fishing - perhaps even the catch of a lifetime! There are also zones that allow for night fishing, including the Alqueva Dam.

Course Fishing

We have many locations to fish on the Guadiana river , here you can catch Barbel, Carp, Mullet, Eels and Zander . Some locations are easy acces others are a trek so you need to tell me what you want.

Predator Fishing

Predator fishing is done from the bank at various river and lake locations. while waiting for the Black Bass, Zander, Channel Catfish, Pike and Shad to bite, you can take in beauty of the Alentejo.

Bird watching and nature tours
Fishing is not the only reason to visit the Alentejo region.  There is an abundance of wildlife, spectacular flora to be found. We can also arrange bird watching and nature tours taking you to some spectaclur places.

We can take you on a adventure observing the many bird speceis  and other wildlife that this area is famous for. My house is on the flightline of 1000 plus euroupean cranes during the winter. Also near to the stepp habitat where the euroupean roller and the great and little busturds breed.

I have been fishing with Russell twice now and both trips have been great . He will always try and give a honest opinion on best options for the time of year . His house is in a great location, a typical Alentejo village with it's own pub and very friendly locals . The area is beautiful being just outside the Rio guidiana nature reserve . I would like to bring more friends next time.
