It was more than the usual fishing trip. It was a total experience that introduced me to a rural lifestyle that’s capvang yet fast disappearing. Friendship, wellbeing and reciproca on take centre stage in the lives of the people I met rather than the individualis acquisi on of wealth and power. Although I only spent three nights in the village, its inhabitants were so welcoming I began to feel a part of the community; and, quite definitely, it’s gone under my skin. I want to go back and sit drinking coffee under a night sky filled with bright stars and constellaons in the company of genuine, good-hearted people. And Russell? He’s straight, honest, a great guide and a superb host. This first trip was a tester. Everything passed with flying colours and I’ve several more planned for the future.

I have been fishing with Russell twice now and both trips have been great . He will always try and give a honest opinion on best options for the time of year . His house is in a great location, a typical Alentejo village with it's own pub and very friendly locals . The area is beautiful being just outside the Rio guidiana nature reserve . I would like to bring more friends next time.
